It’s election season again. As I read ����Vlog��ý’s opinion pages I can literally hear the anger, the stress, the fear in the peoples’ letters. I hear the same in the news on TV. And even at personal gatherings I can hear the fear in the peoples’ voices. Our republic is not well. We are no Shangri-La today.

As always, fear about ending our "democracy" is at the center of our political debates. Whether you are Presidents Biden or Trump, Democrat or Republican, Marxist/progressive or MAGA/conservative, black or white, trans or straight, female or male, atheist or religious, tall or short, skinny or heavy, young or old, etc., etc. it’s always those who are different from us who are the threat to our democracy.
